COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 update from Scouts Victoria June 16:

Metropolitan Melbourne

Face-to-face Scouting activities indoors and outdoors in Metropolitan Melbourne can resume within limits.

  • Outdoor activities for up to 150 participants* in patrols or small groups of up to 20.
  • Indoor activities for a maximum of 50 per venue, subject to 1 person per 4sqm density quotient, in patrols or small groups of up to 10 participants*.
  • Overnight camping in groups of up to 20* with a maximum of three people sharing a tent or other accommodation.
  • Campsites can accept private bookings from a single household plus two additional adults and their dependents.
  • School camps where there is exclusive use of a campsite by a single school.
  • Masks still need to be worn indoors unless an exemption applies.
  • Hall hires can resume but they must follow the restrictions for the relevant industry sector. Private hall hires are not permitted.
  • Travel to regional Victorian Alpine Resorts permitted providing visitors have had a COVID test within 72 hours of departing Melbourne.
  • Restrictions only apply within Metropolitan Melbourne; Melbourne residents follow Regional Victoria restrictions when outside of Metropolitan Melbourne.

  • Outdoor activities in groups of up to 50 participants*.
  • Indoor activities in groups of up to 50 participants* subject to 1 person per 4sqm density quotient.
  • Overnight camping in groups of up to 50* with a maximum of six people sharing a tent or other accommodation.
  • Campsites can accept private bookings from a single household plus five additional adults and their dependents.
  • School camps where there is exclusive use of a campsite by a single school.
  • Masks still need to be worn indoors unless an exemption applies.
  • Hall hires can resume but they must follow the restrictions for the relevant industry sector. Private hall hires are not permitted.
  • Restrictions apply for anybody within Regional Victoria; Melbourne residents follow Regional Victoria restrictions when outside of Metropolitan Melbourne.

* Limits for youth program activities only apply to participants and spectators/parents. Those required to run the activity, such as Leaders, adult helpers, trainers, rostered parents, carers, etc are not included in the limits.

From June 25, 2021 we expect further relaxation of face-to-face scouting.

Interstate Travel

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you are planning an activity that involves interstate travel where a permit to re-enter Victorian is required. Interstate travel includes disembarking on the NSW side of the Murray River.
  • This requirement is in addition to any other notifications that are required.
  • This does not apply to members and Groups in the NSW-Victorian Border Community who are undertaking activities within the NSW-Victorian Border Community area.

Face Masks

  • Face masks must be worn indoors if you are 12yo or over unless an exemption applies. Refer to further information on Face Masks in the FAQs.

Generic COVIDSafe Plans for Scouts Victoria activities

These generic COVIDSafe Plans can either be used as is or modified to suit your situation. Note that the following COVIDSafe Plans will need to be updated to reflect the new requirements, such as attendance numbers and wearing face masks indoors within Metropolitan Melbourne.

Attendance Record and QR Codes

A record must be taken of all people who attend an indoor or outdoor Scouting activity for more than 15 minutes. This includes youth members, Leaders (including visiting District leaders), helpers, carers, parents, visitors, etc.

QR code systems must be either the Victorian Government QR Code Service or a system linked to the Victorian Government QR Code Service.
